Spiritually, this is EXACTLY why Christ came and what Christ offers. He offers us the unbelievable opportunity to become transformed. Remember what he said when he started his public ministry? His mission statement if you will, was to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for the prisoner, to recover sight for the blind, and to release the oppressed (Luke 4: 18-21).
But here's the question, have you accepted HIS offer. We're not talking about salvation, we are talking about walking with Christ in such an intimate way, that you become the BIGGEST LOSER. The BIGGEST LOSER that is willing to lose by no longer doing the things that made them spiritually poor, enslaved them, and blinded them. In other words, are you willing to lose it all in order to be set free and become transformed. You see, our problem is NOT that we don't know what to do, our problem is our unwillingness to do it! Friend, a transformed life takes partnership with the Holy Spirit, yielding of our flesh, surrendering our right to be in control and daily walking intimately with Christ.
Just as the contestants on the Biggest Loser TV Show are willing to go to extreme measures to change, so must Christians, Christ followers, Disciples of Christ have a relentless resolve to get rid of whatever is keeping them from Walking with God. The Apostle Paul understood this when he wrote:
"But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ" (Phil 3:7-9)
Will you be the Biggest Loser? What needs to change in your life in order for you to gain Christ? May God's grace and mercy lead us and call us to such a transformed life.
