That is good Jena. I have used the thought "Get thee behind me Satan" many times when I caught myself thinking about something that wasn't Godly. Sometimes you just need that break in your conscious to realize that you need to refocus your thoughts to Godly thoughts. Make sense???

What a perfect analogy for what happens so quickly in our lives. I start my day totally focused on God and His Truths and before I can recognize it, I've lost sight of His will for my life and I'm forging ahead with my own wants and desires. It happens so quickly it's scary, but in God's grace something I see, hear, or feel jolts me back to where my focus needs to be - in Him.

To Cheryl: I too have issues with perfectionism/good work ethic. I have recently realized the difference lies in whether I need a "pat on the back" or thank you (from outside source) to feel that I have done the best I could do that day or if I am content within myself at the end of the day.

Where is the line drawn between being a perfectionist seeking outside approval, and that of a good work ethic? I always strive to do my best and have thought it was just a good work ethic. But maybe I am seeking that extrinsic acceptance??? How do I know the difference?

Our pastor was preaching just last night on the Promises of God. One that he touched on was Isaiah 49:16. "Behold I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands: thy walls are continually before me." God loves us so much that he has our names engraved in the palms of his hands, he thinks about us that much! Incredible! We serve an awesome God! What amazing love....

As I begin the study and read the accompanying scriptures, I am reminded of all of the times I've know that I needed to delve deeper into the Word and into my prayer life to find God's will and direction for my life. During those times, so often I have found myself just shutting down, because searching and seeking might cause me to find answers that were completely contrary to my flesh.

Thanks for the Christmas wish. The Giving Tree is one of my favorite books. When I was a teacher, one year I had my 3rd graders act it out.

It looks like your family has a blast together. It's so good to see teenagers having fun with their parents. They look like great kids. :)

I can't believe how much time has passed since we've seen each other. Your Christmas greeting reminded me of why I loved being around you guys sooo many years ago :).
Your children are awesome...your lives are a testimony to God's redeeming love. Thank you for all that you two taught me 20 something years ago!!!! (yes, it as that long ago!!!)
